The impact you can have

SonarCloud is a SaaS application for code quality and security. We help developers find bugs and vulnerabilities in their projects and give them a methodology on how to fix it. 

Historically, SonarCloud inherits from the UI of SonarQube, our on-premise solution for code quality and security. We’re now determined to make it a real cloud product with an identity of its own, and thus we need SonarCloud to evolve to meet the standards of modern cloud services in terms of UX and UI. 

This is why this position can be so appealing for someone ready to face big and exciting challenges. We need a best-in-class modern user interface with a solid visual identity that can stand-out from other development tools, while still matching expectations of a highly technical audience. You will play a key role in the team by entirely redefining the look and feel of the application, identifying creative approaches and making the UI resilient by creating a design system.

You can also have an impact outside of the team. As an example, the visual identity must be consistent between our marketing materials and the SonarCloud UI. You will interact with design and front-end professionals from other teams to bring design awareness and enforce best practices.

On a daily basis, you will

• Shape the new look and feel of SonarCloud, and incrementally deliver your vision for this new artistic direction


• Team-up with other designers, product managers and developers


• Participate in the specification effort of new features by defining the UI aesthetics and behaviour. 


• Define the new visual language of the application, including animations and illustrations


• Support the continuous improvement effort by spotting design issues and commit to fix them with the development team


• Challenge product decisions and be challenged on your designs


• Build the design system, striving for consistency of UI components

The skills you will demonstrate

• Good technical culture and knowledge of UI design fundamentals (design degree)


• Strong interest in designing for complex systems and rich applications


• Mastering the craft of static mockups, illustration and animation


• Excellent communication skills


• Comfortable with agile practices and principles


• Lifelong learner, curious to explore new tools and approaches

Nice to have

• Experience in designing complex enterprise applications


• Accessibility enthusiasm


• A first experience in building a design system
