The Faculty of Humanities of the University of Bern is inviting applications for a Lectureship at the Institute of Linguistics.


The appointment will take effect from 1 February 2021.

Tasks Applicants should be able to teach courses on contemporary Chinese history and culture.

A commitment to close cooperation with neighboring disciplines and institutions is expected. Independent research and teaching duties involve six hours (assistant lectureship) resp. eight hours (lectureship) of class per week in the corresponding bachelor's and master's degree courses. Requirements Prerequisite for application is a completed Ph.D. in Chinese Studies / Sinology. Applicants should have excellent knowledge of Standard Chinese, an education in language pedagogy, and several years' professional experience as a Chinese teacher.

Applicants are expected to acquire a good working knowledge of German (B2) within two years.
