As an associate specialist in Glycobioloy, you will be part of the Microbiome group. We address microbiome science and nutritional modulators as enabler of health. We focus specifically on how microbial component interact with host physiology. You will build and manage research activities in the field of glycan mediated microbiota-host interactions relevant for health and translate scientific findings into business applications. Within the Gastro-Intestinal Health Department, you will be embedded in a scientific community focusing on gut barrier function, immune competence development and maintenance, as well as gut-brain and gut-lung axis research for health.

A day in the life of an Associate Specialist

 



  • Develop novel concepts and execute transversal highly collaborative research to identify nutritional interventions as modulators of the microbiome-host interaction for health

  • Develop relevant assays, analytical tools and models to investigate glycan mediated processes for health

  • Strengthen the internal and external scientific network in line with assigned responsibilities

  • Integrate scientific knowledge with business, intellectual property and regulatory constraints to deliver results that are relevant to product innovation and commercial application

  • Contribute to peer reviewed scientific publications, scientific communications, and patent
     

What will make you successful

 



  • PhD with recognized scientific expertise in Glycobiology, preferably in host microbiota interaction and/or mucosal immunology research

  • Experience in industry R&D is a plus

  • Experience in concept ideation and front-end innovation during previous research

  • Passion and experience to create a bridge between science and technology

  • Highly motivated and independent, with the ability to work in a dynamic environment

  • Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail

  • Excellent communication skills, team spirit, and open creative mindset

  • Fluent in English both written and spoken, any other language a plus
