Description


The Journal Specialist for our Arabic project will be responsible for coordinating and delivering the successful translation of our current English content into Arabic. The Journal Specialist will function within a larger matrix team as well as a broader stakeholder environment, representing the interest of the journal within the company as well as with external partners. The Journal Specialist will be familiar working with KPIs and working towards specific targets. They will provide an effective interface with other departments in addition to bringing interdepartmental collaboration.

We are looking for a self-starter who has previous experience working in a bilingual (English/Arabic) environment, ideally in a science or publishing-based role. You will ideally have some experience in online communications and/or social media marketing also. The ideal candidate would thrive in a fast-paced environment and have excellent time management skills.

Responsibilities:



  • Defining, implementing, and monitoring the workflows of the translation and production process.

  • Providing our external translation partners and sponsor with a first point of contact.

  • Supporting your editorial office colleagues with administrative and operational support.

  • Overseeing the promotion and dissemination of the newly translated Arabic content.

  • Contributing to developing departmental strategic plans and further developing future initiatives.

  • Actively providing solutions and strategies to meet annual targets.

  • Representing the company and the journal in an official role to external stakeholders.


Requirements



  • Experience in a bilingual (English/Arabic), preferably in a scientific, communications or publishing environment.

  • Comfortable working with challenging deadlines whilst managing multiple activities

  • Excellent time management skills.

  • Effective communication skills in both English and Arabic.

  • Motivated by challenges and growth opportunities

  • Ability to formulate goals and set direction for team

  • Quality-, results- and detail-oriented

  • Structured, proactive and engaging approach to the work

  • Ability to develop and foster strong relationships
