Lead Cloud Software Engineer – AWS


What’s the role?
Be part of our global IT team and shape the future of our digital offerings for the construction business! We are looking for a Lead Cloud Software Engineer to design and develop solutions in our application landscape which combines Amazon Web Service (AWS) and SAP HANA Cloud (SCP) based solutions with one of the largest SAP ERP (S4/HANA) single instance implementations in the world. In this position, you will directly work with different Hilti business units to design, evaluate and develop innovative applications based on microservices. You will be part of a corporate Hilti organization, which provides the opportunity to grow and work globally on different projects in parallel.

What does the role involve?
As a Lead Cloud Software Engineer you translate business needs into technical application design. You plan, estimate and develop software in an agile methodology environment in alignment with the product owners. You also need to take responsibility to coach and develop junior developers in their role in the area of technical and process know how. You actively partner with our product/solution owner to find and develop the right solution. Develop quality assurance processes/tools to support the developed solutions throughout the life cycle of the application. You are responsible for creating technical designs, specifications and initiate design reviews to ensure superior quality based on Hilti standards. You develop applications & services and support the lifecycle management those in close cooperation with partners from business, vendors and other IT teams. You ignite innovative ideas, initiate and lead development projects. You assure quality by providing effective methods in code review and testing in the area of your responsibility in close connection with the test management team.


From Infrastructure, Communication Technologies, ERP Systems, Mobile Applications, Information Management to fully cloud-based microservice development and Internet of Things – you name it – we do it on a global scale.

The ideal candidate has current and extensive experience developing and building distributed systems and applications. The ideal candidate:



  • Has in-depth expertise working with distributed systems and understands how they are deployed

What you need is:



  • Multiyear experience in software development with agile methodologies

  • Minimum Bachelor, preferred Master/PhD in Computer Science or similar and 5-7 years working experience

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as excellent analytical capabilities, self-responsibility and customer orientation

  • Multiyear hands-on software development with Java, Docker and AWS infrastructure and services, experience in Kubernetes is considered a plus

  • English language skills
