Master internship in Chemical Sensing
CSEM has a long tradition if the fabrication of ISFET sensor for measuring pH based on high-quality LPCVS Tantalum Pentoxide Ta2O5. The sensors are today fabricated in CSEM cleanroom.
With the raising awareness and consciousness toward the environment we live in and the products we consume daily, measuring pH and other chemical parameters (alkali metals, heavy metals, contaminants, etc.) in drinkable water, waste, soil, lakes, rivers, oceans, continuously for long time with minimal field intervention, is becoming more and more relevant.
EPFL has a long tradition in fabrication processes for solid state sensor devices and is further pushing innovation in materials, devices, integration, and architectures.
CSEM and EPFL are reinforcing their collaboration on the subject starting with master thesis sponsorship program. We envision solid-state multi-analyte, compact and easy-to-plug environmental sensors will become more and more pervasive and widespread.
Your mission
The goal of the Master project is to fabricate Ta2O5 and HfO2 MOS structures by ALD processes and characterize their figures of merit for ISFET pH sensing applications. An attention will be given to a common CSEM-EPFL characterization platform for such ISFET devices. A collaboration with Xsensio SA is envisioned and funding will be available.
Your profile
You have a background in Chemistry or a similar domain. You are fluent in English and are a good team player ready to take technical challenges.
We offer
CSEM offers a stimulating and multidisciplinary work environment with the opportunity to work with leading Swiss and international companies. You will have the opportunity to benefit from a multicultural company which clearly promotes an employee-driven culture. CSEM is an equal opportunities employer.
We look forward to receiving your complete application file. Preference will be given to professionals applying directly.
