Overview

We are looking to expand our Intellectual Property (IP) team with a Patent Analyst, to drive the key activities in Patent Intelligence and integrate of the ongoing work on complex topics in the area of sustainability (eg. low CO2 solutions and circular economy). The Patent Analyst provides visibility on competitor activity, trends and portfolio status, in collaboration with colleagues in the business segments and other corporate teams. As part of the IP team, the Patent Analyst also supports managing the increasing number of patent searches as well as patent filings for LafargeHolcim.

Responsibilities

• Managing and developing our Patent Intelligence process


• Supporting project managers, inventors and business developers for patent searches and landscapes


• Creating regular and tailored reports and dashboards for internal stakeholders


• Carrying out prior art searches for patentability assessments, and searches in view of possible future oppositions


• Support in preparing patent applications

Education/Qualifications

• University degree (MSc or PhD) in materials sciences or engineering


• Basic training in patent law (CEIPI or equivalent)

Experience

• 2-3 years of relevant experience in the Intellectual Property field, preferably in building materials industry or adjacent sectors


• Experience in “Freedom to Operate” analyses and patentability searches for products and/or manufacturing processes


• Experience in analysis of complex patent landscapes is highly desirable 

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge in data management, data analysis and reporting


• Expert knowledge in Derwent Innovation/Clarivate or similar


• Very good oral and written communication skills

Language Requirements

● Fluent in business English (reading, writing and speaking) Additional languages such as Chinese, Korean or Japanese are an advantage
