Department Leader Engine Design (m/f/x)

Liebherr Machines Bulle SA is the centre of excellence for combustion engines (diesel and gas engines) and hydraulic components. The company develops and produces various products which are used in the fields of building construction and civil engineering, mining, agriculture, decentralised energy, machine and plant engineering, as well as aerospace.


 


 


 


Responsibilities



  • In this position you will be responsible for leading engineering teams covering engine design activities for a broad range of Heavy Duty and Off-Road Applications 

  • You will drive performance management, people development and organizational development initiatives in order to ensure required competencies aligned with our business strategy

  • Together with your teams you will manage design activities within development projects for new engines, assemblies (modules) and components as well as further development of existing designs and products

  • Reporting directly to our Head of Engine Design and in close collaboration with cross-functional Project Managers you are accountable for ensuring budget and deadline compliance and reaching qualitiy requirements

  • In close collaboration with other R&D departments and internal partners you are responsible for continous improvement of products, processes and methods within our engine development business 


 


Requirements



  • You have successfully completed your technical studies (Master / Diploma) in mechanical engineering or similar and you can look back on many years of professional experience in the area of combustion engine design, ideally paired with in-depth knowledge of Heavy Duty Diesel Engine business

  • You have acquired solid leadership experience in management roles in industrial environments and you enjoy building and leading high performing teams

  • You can present a proven track record in optimization of design processes and methods and you know how to use your leadership skills to promote organizational development

  • In addition to English you should speak one of our company languages (French or German) and you should be used to working in matrix organisations

  • Your personality is characterized by a strong will to make a difference, you are an open minded, innovative leader with a strong team orientation and finally, you combine strategic and analytical competencies with a hands on mentality as well as the ability to interface at all levels of the business
