Description:


Role Summary/Purpose:


The GSC EHS Project Leader is responsible to develop and drive programs & processes to meet all EHS activities and ensure our EHS expectations are achieved across our Cytiva business.  This role will work with the Cytiva Business Leaders, and Global EHS Staff to develop and deploy Environmental Health & safety programs & policies to mitigate risk, drive regulatory compliance and promote a positive EHS culture.  This role will report to the Biopharma GSC EHS Sr. Manager with primary responsibility to our Integrated Supply Chain team.


Essential Responsibilities:



  • Support implementation of EHS programs across all Cytiva operations and regions to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations and Cytiva EHS policies.

  • Lead assigned global programs to improve EHS performance in support of Cytiva EHS strategic objectives & imperatives.

  • Support our continuous improvement & optimization efforts for our EHS framework programs and support our sites for 3rd party certification requirements (ISO 14001, ISO 45001)

  • Coach and support our sites directly for framework program owners/co-owners to ensure proper deployment & implementation of the EHS framework elements at the site level

  • Support and create global-wide EHS procedures to supplement our EHS Framework programs 

  • Drive rigor and support site execution to KPI EHS objectives & metrics;

  • Participate in leadership & operational review meetings to share EHS progress reports & metrics

  • Help our sites thoroughly evaluate EHS risks and manage respective actions accordingly when identified through a Management of Change review; drive active site EHS engagement & management of change for business strategy related to new product introductions, product transfers & rooftop consolidations, new Construction, etc.; Keep management team apprised of progress and significant developments on key projects.

  • Evaluate GSC facility EHS conditions, assess risks and develop appropriate corrective-action plans and budgets to address deficiencies in comparison to regulations & internal policy/protocols.

  • Provide EHS guidance and compliance support to site EHS leaders in addressing government inquiries, violations and to ensure compliance with regulatory and program requirements.

  • Support & participate in EHS compliance and program audits of manufacturing sites. Provide follow-up and support post governance/business audit to ensure execution to action plan, risk mitigation & program improvements

  • Partner with Security for the business & sites’ Crisis Management programs and Business Continuity Plan (BCP);

  • Partner with FM Global & our site stakeholders involved in sites’ Fire Prevention program

  • Work with broader Cytiva EHS team to drive networking across all sites to leverage expertise, incident lessons learned & best practices

  • Provide coaching & professional development of our EHS leaders; ensure effective onboarding of new EHS Leaders, and also retention of key EHS talent

  • Support all other related duties as assigned.


Who you are



  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Occupational Safety & Health, or related field required;

  • Master’s degree and professional EHS related certifications desirable.

  • Minimum 10 years of related EHS experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of international experience working in or with global organizations  



  • Ability to relate and work with all levels of the organization, plus ability to organize, motivate & lead teams, drive change and interact cross functionally

  • Proven mentoring and coaching abilities, demonstrated ability to motivate & inspire others



  • Extensive compliance knowledge of EHS regulations, policies & external reporting requirements.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to communicate in English.



  • Excellent organizational & project/program management skills and attention to detail, plus ability to manage multiple diverse priorities effectively at the same time.



  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software; a plus for working knowledge of Digital EHS Management System (eg. Gensuite).

  • Preferred for ISO experience & OSHA VPP or Regional equivalent

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally (30% travel)
