Syngenta is investing in biologicals and shifting part of the Research effort into developing an holistic approach to Plant health and Soil Health. The position will be integrated in a group of scientists working on better understanding how to protect the seeds from pathogens in the soil through direct or indirect effect of chemicals or biologicals, including how to influence the establishment and health of the seedlings through studying the broad interactions happening below ground between pathogens, seeds and seedlings and the rest of the soil microbiome.


Accountabilities:



  • As Project Biologist actively contributes to the Project Science Plans in order to deliver the Biology Profile of chemicals or biologicals under study

  • Ensure the testing methods are fitting to address the biological performance questions for the different research targets and develop new ones to meet this need whenever relevant

  • Initiates, implements and leads experiments in line with the projects science plans

  • Analyzes research data and presents conclusions in detailed reports and presentations.

  • Use project management knowledge and tools in order to optimize efficiency and progress towards project delivery.

  • Together with group lead and peer Scientific Experts & Team Leads plans and prioritizes group teamwork slate and experiments.

  • Actively understand technology progress and dedicate resources to evaluate the potential for its applicability in the Biology Function and propose new ideas and projects

  • Collaborate with internal Syngenta peers in different functions and within external global collaborations (CROs, academics).

  • Be an active member of the scientific community mainly internally and establish a work relevant network externally.

  • Enhance Syngenta brand through publications in peer-reviewed journals and presentation at international scientific meetings.

  • Ensure compliance of HSE (Health, Safety and Environment) to Syngenta standards, encourage and propagate best practice.

 

Qualifications

 

Requirements:



  • PhD and Postdoc in Plant Pathology, with a robust background and experience in soil microbiology and agronomy. Plant/seed physiology would be a plus

  • Experience in seed or agrochemical industry or in agrochemicals/biologicals testing facilities would be a plus

  • Project management basics

  • Effective communication and collaboration skills

  • Digital and technology savvy

  • Fluent English written and spoken (B2-C1 level)

  • Capability to constructive challenge other scientists and innovate
