OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME
The IVB Department's mission is ‘To promote the health and well-being of all people, in all countries, by advancing the impact of vaccines and immunization programmes through partnership and leadership; policies and guidance; evidence and research'. Our work is aligned with the WHO 13th Global Programme of Work (GPW13), with a central focus to drive impact in countries, to ensure healthy lives and promote well-being at all ages.The Strategic Objectives of the IVB Department include:
1) establishing global immunization agendas, strategies and policies to build and harness commitment to action;
2) promoting research and innovation to increase impact of vaccines, technologies and immunization practices;
3) advancing evidence-based introduction and access to vaccines and immunization innovations;
4) optimizing immunization delivery to ensure high-impact, sustainable and equitable programmes, and
5) harnessing Vaccine Alliances and Partnerships, including collaborations with Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance and key WHO partners, towards cross-programme coordination and collaboration in pursuit of universal health coverage.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
Manage the area of work targeting enhanced access to timely and affordable supply of vaccines and manage the Market Information for Access Initiative by:
1) working with andmanaging consulting groups to enhance data collection and analysis, oversee annual collection of data on vaccine shortages and purchase (including price, manufacturer of source, procurement agency, terms and conditions), quality control and analysis to identify affordability and availability risks (two in-depth market studies per year, annual updating of past market studies, yearly global vaccine market overview);
2) contributing towards the development and coordination for implementation of policies/guidance/strategies for enhanced access to supply, particularly in self-funding and self-procuring countries in collaboration with other WHO departments and market shaping stakeholders; this includes expanding access policies to meet specific policy objectives by working with manufactures and other partner agencies for improved price and availability agreements;
3)strengthening dialogue and collaboration with internal and external partners on market shaping by regular convening relevant stakeholders to ensure information sharing (including through website development and regular updating) and coordination;
4) providing technical support to regions and countries, e.g. regular mapping of priority needs for assistance by countries (understanding available information, improvement of negotiating skills, budget impact analysis etc.), development of tools (e.g. pricing fact sheets), engagement with countries on bilateral or group basis to leverage regional platforms and peer learning;
5)representing WHO in technical/managerial meetings as relevant to the afore-mentioned work areas;
6) developing new effective linkages with other technical groups in IVB and across WHO Divisions (e.g. Access to Medicines and Health Products) as well as in Regional and Country Offices, to support the integration of activities and collaboration towards the achievement of Global Vaccine Action Plan goals and post 2020 agenda;
7) supporting the supervisor in the area of fundraising, development and updating of workplans, budget development and management, financial expenditure projections for the work area, and
8) Performs all other related duties as assigned.

REMUNERATION
WHO salaries for staff in the Professional category are calculated in US dollars. The remuneration for the above position comprises an annual base salary starting at USD 73,516 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable), a variable post adjustment, which reflects the cost of living in a particular duty station, and currently amounts to USD 5336 per month for the duty station indicated above. Other benefits include 30 days of annual leave, allowances for dependent family members, home leave, and an education grant for dependent children.
