Job Purpose


Responsible for driving winning, customer focused value propositions for the Snacks & Confectionery (S&C) Business Unit Sales and Key Account teams.  This is achieved through understanding and identifying real customer needs within the segments, then developing and actioning segment marketing plans to provide profitable growth opportunities.


The success of the role will be measured as growth in volume and value in the BU accounts and the creation of a strong pipeline of New Business Opportunities with both existing and new customers within the BU accounts.


 


ROLE DIMENSIONS


Amcor Group is comprised of six Business Groups, in the Flexibles, Rigids and Specialty Cartons packaging.  The Snacks & Confectionery Business Unit is one of the 4 business units in the Amcor Flexibles EMEA (AFEMEA) Business Group.  AFEMEA is the market leader in the Flexible Packaging business in the Region with annual sales turnover over €3 billion and c 60 plants. 


The Snacks & Confectionery Business Unit serves customers in these segments, in addition to the Flexibles needs of Tobacco customers and some in the Home & Personal Care vertical. This is a well-established, successful business in Amcor, operating in a competitive, high volume packaging environment with half of the turnover in Global key accounts (sales to whom are managed by a central GKA organisation) and a total sales turnover in excess of €550m.

  • Customers are supplied from manufacturing operations at 9 sites throughout the European Region (7 countries)

Principal Accountabilities


 


Market Vertical & Sustainability Development:



  • Manage the performance and profitable growth of all market verticals owned by the BU (see scope)

  • Deliver and calibrate the ‘where to play’ and ‘how to win’ strategy of specific market verticals with 1 - 3 years financial goals

  • Lead the internal alignment and implementation of those plans in the market

  • Prioritize initiatives to meet financial and strategic marketing objectives

  • Manage performance of the verticals on behalf of Marketing and the BU

  • Drive the Sustainability strategy for the BU, including product development plans towards recycling-ready solutions, commercial strategy and necessary CAPEX business cases to support plan

  • Define with R&D and Customers the Innovation Roadmap for verticals to secure its long-term business health

  • Actively support new product development ideation and validate developments along the stage gate process


 


S&C BU Development:



  • Orchestrate and execute business development plans, creating a full pipeline of business opportunities, focusing on BU Products or Growth regions which supports the BU and cross-vertical growth

  • Work with the Sales, Commercial and Operations teams to create and drive successful value propositions which produce win-win outcomes

  • Lead Product management activities within the BU portfolio of solutions to improve product profitability, standardization, and cost management of the portfolio produced by the BU

  • Lead a team of Sales and R&D and project manage the pipeline of opportunities, the delivery of Value Proposition and revenue impact  

  • Develop tangible (tactical) segment marketing plans to identify growth opportunities

  • Drive lead-management and support the Commercial team by establishing price to win / market price

  • Develop Value pricing strategies and track progress jointly with S&C Commercial Excellence team

  • Strengthen relationships with identified Key Accounts by understanding the needs of the different functions of the customer (other than Procurement)


 


Customer Development:



  • Understand and identify real customer needs within the segments from assigned Business Unit, evaluate the elements that customers are willing to pay for and developing customer specific and quantified value propositions

  • Engage and build relationship with marketing peers at Customers

  • Become the key point of contact for our Customer’s Marketing team

  • Define, manage and deliver ‘Innovation Day’ meetings together with Customer’s Marketing teams

  • Identify, by relationship building, areas of further growth and decision-making power of the Marketing function of our customers to support Value creation.


 


Qualifications/Requirements


 



  1. Formal Qualifications and Experience


 



  • University Degree in a business-related field or MBA

  • Fluency in English; any additional language being a plus

  • Proven marketing experience combined with commercial or business development experience in B2B markets (in the packaging industry is a plus)

  • Knowledge of the Food or FMCG manufacturing business is desirable, knowledge of the snacks and confectionery industry preferable, but not essential.
