Position Summaryultrainnovative – Tackle rare and dynamic challengesAs Director Market Access in Europe, you ensure that product strategy and policy efforts successfully address regional reimbursement challenges, and leverage and coordinate cross-portfolio payer strategies across Europe. You play a pivotal role across the Commercial, Medical Affairs and R&D teams, integrating the payer perspective in research, clinical development, & commercial activities. You participate to the European pricing & market access strategy development, ensuring its implementation to achieve optimal access to Ultragenyx portfolio. You integrate and coordinate all internal and external stakeholders to influence, advocate and establish our portfolio across Europe and enhance its commercial value. You engage and collaborate with relevant stakeholders and authorities to shape policies in order to enhance and maximize patients access to care. You will report to the Vice President, Head of Market Access, Europe.
Your responsibilities include:
Monitor reimbursement trends, both threats and opportunities in the European region
Support strategies to sustain and appropriately optimize Pricing, Access, and Reimbursement in Europe for both pipeline and inline products
Work closely with global teams (R&D and Commercial) to ensure that the needs of European Payers are encompassed in R&D programs, to generate and shape evidence to build optimal value propositions to address Payers requirements
Collaborate with GHEOR to ensure that evidence generation strategies yield the most compelling data to Payers, including HTA submissions
Develop local HTA & Pricing dossiers with external consultants
Understand and co-develop Pricing and innovative contracting and/or risk sharing models
Monitor the competitive landscape and business models, track emerging trends in the Reimbursement and Drug Pricing landscape in the European Markets
Develop a strong partnership with EU teams, country leaderships, Regional Market Access leads, and Global teams (R&D, HEOR, Commercial) to enhance the commercial value of Ultragenyx products
Participate to external policy initiatives (EUCOPE working groups, ARM working groups, conferences etc.) helping shape corporate policy goals, supporting the development and execution of appropriate policy activities in Europe
Support sustainable external communication strategies to accelerate market access for Ultragenyx products
What you bring to the role:
10+ years of experience in pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry experience
MD/PhD/PharmD/MBA or MSc with strong professional applied experience in reimbursement and/or pricing/health economics, with thorough knowledge of Payers in the context of biopharmaceutical commercialization
Substantial knowledge about global health care system, HTA, and pricing & reimbursement decision making across multiple geographies
Solid understanding of the different healthcare systems in the core European countries, the requirements for HTA/P&R processes, and HEOR
Strong experience in Market Access and/or pricing & reimbursement experience at a regional/local level, with understanding of the interdependencies across Europe
Knowledge & experience in rare disease area and/or gene therapies is a plus
Well-developed analytical and strategic skills with an entrepreneurial insight and a pragmatic approach, comfortable at ‘rolling up sleeves’ to make things happen
Consolidated experience in communicating with third parties (service provider companies) and ability to keep them accountable to deliver on quality and time
Excellent leadership, networking and influencing skills
Ability to build relationships, develop and organize information in a logical and persuasive manner toestablish confidence, credibility and trust
Ability to work effectively in a complex matrixed environment
Creative and innovative mindset, with a broad business perspective and acumen with strong project management skills, excellent problem solving and resource planning skills
Proficient use of Office 365, cloud-based and virtual collaboration tools expected (MS Office tools, EDMS, Internet resources, Zoom, OneDrive)
Languages: fluent English and other European languages are preferred
