Global Lead - Warehouse Technologies

As part of an ongoing commitment to drive excellence in all functions, Lonza has an active program to strengthen all aspects of its Supply Chain function. As part of this, a new Centre of Excellence will be formed to develop a comprehensive program to ensure its physical Supply Chain and Logistics activities develop to support the current and future business requirements of all divisions.


Key responsibilities:



  • Responsible for the development and deployment of a Global Standard warehouse technology template for Lonza to ensure all sites have effective tools to support the operations


  • Establish a roadmap to implement standard technologies across all Lonza sites in the areas of Warehouse Management systems, Scanning systems and Picking technologies


  • Drive compliance and competent use of standard systems through effective support and monitoring



Key requirements:



  • Perform global warehouse mapping exercise to capture detailed landscape of existing capabilities and capacities


  • Implement mechanisms to translate Business Plans and forecasts into warehousing requirement on a 3-5 year horizon


  • Capture existing warehouse investment projects, planned projects and short term challenges and develop into two year group roadmap


  • Establish objective process to define whether internal investment or outsourcing is the optimal solution to address any divisional or group need.


  • Ensure effective assessments are made in the area of warehouse design and automation decisions


  • Establish and manage warehouse investment governance process to oversee existing investments are leveraged to the benefit of the group and to ensure future investments support operational need whilst avoiding unnecessary local investment


  • Implement tracking processes to understand current and future occupancy levels are within desired levels. Also, ensure future requirement forecast accuracy is assessed to identify level of flexibility required during investment
