Are you looking for an internship in edge computing? At Hitachi ABB Power Grids Research in Baden-Dättwil, we have an open position in the area of real-time container orchestration for automation systems. You will join ongoing research projects together with scientists from Hitachi ABB Power Grids Research. The internship will cover topics in the areas of containerization of automation and control applications, real-time orchestration of workloads, fault-tolerance, distributed systems and embedded systems. Your responsibilities

• Evaluate feasibility of container technologies, such as Docker, CoreOS Rkt, Lxc, for real-time workloads


• Design, setup and execute experiments with container orchestrators (e.g. Kubernetes, MicroK8s, K3s, Docker Compose)


• Use and extend heterogeneous edge computing test bed


• Present and write report on experiments


• Contribute to scientific publication

Your background

• Enrolled in a MSc degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field


• Interest in software virtualization, containerization, distributed systems, microservice, real-time systems


• Familiarity with Linux, Docker, and software engineering


• Self-driven and curious, good organizational skills, work well in a team


• Flexibility and ability to prioritize and make use of the time as efficiently as possible


• Proficiency in English
