For our Process Development Department in Monthey, Switzerland, the reference site for the Advanced Materials division, we are looking for a


Process Development Manager (m/f)


The Process Development Manager will lead a team that is responsible for the introduction of new product and new manufacturing processes in accordance to Huntsman process safety standards.  The incumbent is responsible for trouble-shooting production issues and development & scale-up of processes in the area of thermoset chemistry. As member of the Site Leadership Team, the incumbent will also be responsible for delivering site objectives and reporting performance against Key Performance Indicators, following up on deviations and driving successful operations.


Key responsibilities :



  • Lead, manage and develop the Process Development team, the assets (lab + pilot building) and the project portfolio in Monthey

  • Opportunity to lead the Regional Team and the European Development portfolio

  • Taking Technology results (like new products etc) into production. Develop manufacturing processes to fit existing assets or design and develop the appropriate process to match the expectations. Support product transfers if technology input is required

  • Optimize manufacturing processes in capability / reliability / capacity/ quality or Safety.

  • Responsible for assuring that all associates (and contractors) in Process Development performs their job functions in conformance with Huntsman Policy

  • Ensure that Performance Management system is in place and effective to drive and continuously improve the effectiveness

  • Develop knowledge and capabilities within Process Development to support the mid to long term business and manufacturing strategy.

  • Manage and develop the Safety Lab Unit to comply with the highest and latest Process Safety standards

  • Be collaborative and a key partner for our Marketing, Innovation and Operations departments to enable project realization and prioritization

  • Define and Manage budget and develop further our asset capabilities (lab + pilot unit)

  • Participate and implement new Programs developed On Site e.g: 5 S – Kaizen– 6 sigmas– behavioural Safety- OEE/OPE– Step Change . .

  • Show strong Leadership capability and eventually remote management capability by:

  • Emphasizing the Vision and developing Leadership within the Team

  • Coach the staff to set and achieve their goals according to PD strategy, plans and initiatives

  • Member of Monthey Site Leadership Team


Key requirements :



  • University degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering

  • Professional experience in a Development and/or Manufacturing role for minimum 5 years and in a (project) management role for minimum 3 years

  • Experience in leading teams of (technical) professionals

  • Education in business management system is a plus

  • Solid scientific knowledge

  • Flexibility and travelling on purpose

  • Ability to develop others, be positive, build teams and strong relationship

  • Ability to analyse and solve complex situation and be results focus

  • Good communicator and influencing skills to enable projects

  • Language required: English and French, German is a plus
