Lead Designer Accessories & Luggage

We are excited to offer the position of design lead for our Accessories Design Team. Our highly functional luggage covers the journey of the athlete from the moment she or he leaves the house to the races and events and back. But mind you: Despite the fact that our DNA is undoubtedly performance running and that we want to cater to the highest of functional requirements, we insist that our designers are, besides their personal interest in sport, up to date and well informed  about what’s going on in the world of contemporary design and fashion.


Your Team:


You will work in the On design studio within an international team, shaping the future On product line up. The design team includes footwear, apparel and spatial designers who all closely collaborate with shoe developers, product managers, material and innovation specialists, art directors and marketing professionals.


Your Mission:



  • Build On’s accessories and luggage category and its network with suppliers, factories and internal stakeholders

  • You are responsible for the direction, ideation, conception and design of On’s accessories and luggage which we design and develop for our athletes and their needs as well as its team.

  • You will lead developing concepts, mock-ups, visuals, 2D and 3D files for new projects.

  • You will fuel the team with the latest trends in the performance industry and fashion/streetwear scene but you also have that gut feel on what to design next without relying on forecasts of trend researcher

  • You think out of the box when designing new products and you’re courageous to come up with unique designs that disrupt the market.

  • Sustainability is not just marketing for you it’s a key component of your everyday work. You bring fundamental knowledge of industry standards and you have the goal to set the bar higher. You are keen to work closely with innovation to come up with new material solutions for the accessories and luggage team

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders in Product Development, Material, Innovation, Marketing and Sales to build and sell-in the range. Work at this complex cross section of interests and know how to push and drive projects.


Your Story:



  • You have a higher education within product design or industrial design

  • You have 8+ years of design experience in the performance bag and luggage industry but you also are knowledgeable about latest trends in the fashion/streetwear scene

  • You know the global luggage market with its different regions and competitors . Being familiar with the US and/or Asian market is a must

  • You have several years of people management experience with at least 3 direct reports

  • You are experienced and can demonstrate that you are able to strategically build a holistic and forward thinking product portfolio in collaboration with stakeholders

  • You have demonstrated exceptional design skills, taste and progressive design aesthetic 

  • You have exceptional product engineering skills, in order to make the design development more tangible and create mock-ups or even prototypes

  • You have an entrepreneurial spirit, a high sense of responsibility and the ability to manage and drive projects.

  • You have excellent communication and storytelling skills in both written and spoken English
