We are looking for engineers with hands on Mechanical design and product development experience. If you can design mechanical cooling systems, have an understanding of the equipment needs for a data center, and understand the constructability of varying designs you may be a good fit. Engineers will directly support product development and be a part of the process from concept to implementation. You must be capable of defining equipment specifications and evaluating the merit of design changes. You will be relied on as a subject matter expert in the mechanical engineering field. As an electrical engineer at Oracle you will be working with other internal groups as well as external groups including manufacturers, vendors, and contractors.
Oracle has a global presence. Travel will be necessary but shouldn’t be more than 30%. International support will be part of the job, and some international travel may be necessary. Support could consist of working with international teams and could require developing schematic and design document packages. An understanding of international electrical design requirements is helpful but not necessary.

Responsibilities of the Mechanical Engineer


 



  • Collaborate with core team to understand/develop data center (DC) mechanical designs (basis of design, construction issues for build-outs, infrastructure upgrades).



  • Manage all environmental control system issues during concept design, detailed design, procurement, bidding, manufacturing, delivery, and installation on site

  • Identify and resolve issues raised by the cross-functional teams and various external stakeholders

  • Generate scope of work for equipment infrastructure upgrades based on project needs, work with teams to update/document configuration

  • Interface with global operations teams and vendors to deliver mechanical solutions for projects.

  • Be responsible for vendor QA/QC and successful product delivery per internal/external design and equipment standards.

  • Provide cross-discipline collaboration and general understanding of interrelated issues. Update/maintain internal design specifications, drawings and standards to the latest configurations for equipment.


 


Basic Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.

  • 5 years of experience with mission critical facilities.

  • Experience in bidding, designing, operating, and commissioning of mechanical cooling distribution systems

  • Experience with cooling system analysis and engineering software packages.

  • 2+ years of experience working with DCIM, EPMS and/or BMS systems


 


Preferred Qualifications



  • Master's degree and/or Professional Engineer (PE) license.

  • TS/SCI clearance

  • Fluency in software packages for design and analysis of data center cooling/control systems.

  • Experience with large scale SCADA systems

  • Knowledge of large-scale data centers’ electrical infrastructure systems.

  • Ability to work in teams and within a matrix organization.

  • Ability to travel, both domestically and internationally, up to 30% of time.

  • Direct experience with the design and application or operation of mechanical cooling equipment such as CRACs,CRAHUs, DX, Water/Air cooled chilled water systems, pumps, humidity controls, sensor placement etc.

  • Basic understanding of mechanical cooling and systems design.

  • Knowledge of codes and regulations including ANSI, UL, IEC, Life Safety, IBC, NFPA, NEC, and OSHA.

Manage the development and implementation process of a specific company product involving departmental or cross-functional teams focused on the delivery of new or existing products. Plan and direct schedules and monitor budget/spending. Monitor the project from initiation through delivery. Organize the interdepartmental activities ensuring completion of the project/product on schedule and within budget constraints. Assign and monitor work of systems analysis and program staff, providing technical support and direction.



Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. Seven years of project management, product design or related experience preferred.
