Your area of responsibility


Swiss Life Asset Managers’ (SL AM) ESG (Environmental, Social & Governance) department is responsible for defining and implementing the ESG strategy covering all business units, functions as well as asset classes in all countries. Furthermore, the team is responsible for building up the internal sustainability training program – the ESG ambassador initiative.


We are looking for a Head ESG Securities (f/m) to start at the next possible date. In this  newly created position you will report directly to the Head ESG SL AM, take a seat in the divisional ESG board and thereby contribute to the further development of the overall sustainability strategy of Swiss Life Asset Managers. Moreover, you will be a sustainability expert advisor to the SL AM PAM (Proprietary Insurance Asset Management) and TPAM (Third Party Asset Management) management committee.



  • Building up the ESG Securities team and managing & steering a pan-European ESG securities ambassador team;


  • Further developing our ESG framework for securities investments  and guiding its translation into ESG targets, product development, internal and external reporting,  etc. for both the proprietary and the third party asset management across all asset classes. In this context, strategic and innovative management skills are key


  • Monitoring the effects of legal requirements (such as the EU action plan and AMF/BaFin/Finma/CSSF requirements), early identification of any need for action and implementation of necessary changes at company and portfolio level. In particular, lead the implementation of SFDR.


  • Supporting the portfolio management units in aligning their portfolios with the ESG framework and in defining programs to achieve ESG-related goals (such as a CO2 reduction path)


  • Support the product development teams in design of sustainable, innovative securities products with competitive advantage


  • Definition and implementation of all processes for TCFD and other reporting requirements


  • Actively participating in the development of proprietary ESG databases and tools


  • Refining and extending our engagement/dialog concept for PAM and TPAM securities


  • Advising top management on sustainability issues


  • Knowledge transfer and design of training courses for the ambassadors program (Thought Leadership)


  • Participate actively in the communication of our ESG framework internally and externally


  • Monitoring and controlling of various divisional projects in the context of sustainability


  • Representing SL AM securities in related organisations and working groups: Responsibility for and contact with the various external, supraregional sustainability committees, labels, rating agencies and committees


  • Expansion of the network focused on ESG issues and external representation of SLAM (e.g. through lectures and publications)



Your profile



  • Degree in economics, business administration, financial engineering, CFA, or comparable education with ESG focus


  • Multi year experience in supporting asset management organization in creating and implementing their ESG framework as well as developing innovative ESG products


  • Advanced professional experience in the securities management, senior secured loans,  infrastructure debt investments and/or consulting industry including competencies in securities area


  • Strong numerical and analytical skills


  • High leadership competencies, business drive and ability to cope with challenges of a pan-european business


  • Hands on mentality


  • Project management competence & conceptual thinking


  • High degree of commitment and ability to work under pressure as well as goal- and result-oriented working methods


  • Innovative, creative personality with enthusiasm & assertiveness


  • High level of coordination and motivation


  • Quick comprehension and willingness to take on new tasks


  • Independent and autonomous work


  • Communication and teamwork skills


  • Very good MS Office knowledge


  • Very good knowledge of German and English, French is an advantage
