As Strategic Business Development Analyst / Associate you will be supporting the Business Development Lead on strategic and operational initiatives that have an impact across Smallpdf. As such you will be working closely with the CEO on identfying new business opportunities, conducting market research, and assisting management in strategic decision making. You will also work closely with our COO on improving existing and implementing new processes to meet the needs of a fast-growing scale-up. You will support on further operational topics as needed, such as legal aspects within the company, managing the ISO 27001 process and ensuring compliance with data protection regulations, amongst others.


Responsibilities & Duties



  • Work closely with management on strategic and operational topics

  • Identify new business opportunities, including new markets, growth areas, trends, and customer segments

  • Conduct regular competitor analysis and market research

  • Support the Business Development Lead in all matters as and where needed


Requirements



  • Bachelor's/Master's degree in Business, Finance, Engineering or Natural Sciences

  • ~2-3 years' experience as a Management / Strategy Consultant or a Business Developer in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong qualtitative & quantitative, analytical and problem structuring & solving skills, financial modelling is a plus

  • Great interpersonal skills and clear & concise verbal & written communication style

  • Strong ownership, curiosity & drive

  • Sense of pride in personal performance and its impact on the company’s success

  • Self-starter with entrepreneurial mindset

  • Ability to work independently, multitask, work under pressure, and meet deadlines

  • Team player with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment

  • Based in Zurich or willing to relocate to Zurich (this is an on-site role)

  • Excellent command of English (spoken and written), German is a plus

  • Sound knowledge of Tech/ SaaS companies, experience working for one is a plus

  • Experience working for a start-up, scale-up, private equity (PE) or venture capital (VC) firm (incl. internships) is a plus

  • Exposure to corporate finance topics such as M&A transactions is a plus
