FPT Motorenforschung AG in Arbon has around 250 highly qualified employees working with commitment and acknowledged success. As the main innovation center for FPT Industrial, the site is involved in developing FPT Industrials’ future powertrain solutions (not only in electrified powertrains, hybrids and fuel cells, but also novel engines concepts and alternative fuels) and is therefore at the forefront of a transition towards a future of alternative propulsion systems.
As part of this transition, we are forming a new cluster of teams dedicated to foundation innovation. One of these teams will be dedicated to physical systems, dedicated to early innovative for future powertrain systems. The team will not only strengthen our already deep technical competences in internal combustion engines but also extend into novel powertrain concepts and bridge to electrical and physical systems.
To lead this team, we are looking for an experienced engineer as
with a strong background in mechanical and electrical systems but also with a healthy interest in simulation and data driven analysis. Working with multidisciplinary teams, you will leverage your knowledge to open new opportunities and support our innovation drive in advanced powertrain systems. Along with leading an existing small team of specialists, you will build up a team dedicated to foundation innovation of advanced powertrain systems.

Manage and build up the Systems team in the Open Innovation Area

Build up a network of collaboration with research institutes and universities
Bring novel approaches to our development of powertrain systems
Support problem solving and troubleshooting activities

Your profile
Strong theoretical background with a PhD in Mechanical or Electrical engineering
Several years of experience in innovation, not necessarily in powertrain engineering
Experienced in working in a multi-national, multi-disciplinary environment
You are open minded and future thinking
Innovative and creative mindset, willing to drive new ideas and methodologies as well as to deal with diverse problems and bring new insight
Strong team leading skills, able to give direction and guidance
Ability to bridge between physical and virtual worlds
Excellent communication skills needed to simplify the message to the wider engineering community
