Job Description


JOB PURPOSE:


This position is the security lead for Biogen locations based in Switzerland, including but not limited to Solothurn Manufacturing and Baar International HQ, and selected international affiliates. This position will be the subject matter expert (SME) for all security related activities and will be responsible for driving security philosophy and strategy. This position has responsibility and accountability for implementing the site security program focused on the identification, evaluation and mitigation of risk. This position will require close collaboration and communication within the Global Security department and other area functional leads. This position will need to have basic understanding of physical security technology, experience with development and implementation of policy and procedure. Other responsibilities will include interacting with senior executives at the sites and all levels of employees.  In addition, the position interacts with high-level law enforcement and intelligence agencies, as well as security executives in this and other industries. This position manages a staff of contract security personnel in delivering the necessary security services in Switzerland.


To support activities related to identifying threats, executing strategies and initiating actions to counteract illicit activities affecting Biogen products, market interests and/or patient safety. Work will include investigation of external malfeasance affecting Biogen products or brand, cooperating with government authorities regarding suspected counterfeit activities, participation in appropriate working groups and teams within and outside of Biogen  on related topics, and making appropriate recommendations to Management regarding ways to strengthen and maintain a secure global supply chain.  Lead ad hoc projects relating to product and supply chain security as required.


The position is based in Switzerland and regular onsite presence in Solothurn is required. The position is required to travel in his/her assigned region and engage virtually with key stakeholders on a regular basis
 


MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES: 



  1. Directs a team of contract security professionals in identifying, implementing and maintaining security processes at the Solothurn and Baar sites and assigned regions to reduce risk, respond to incidents and limit exposure in areas of physical, personal and financial risk. Support EHS programs in his/her assigned regions and sites.

  2. Reviews, enhances and maintains the region’s security program by implementing appropriate components in the areas of physical security, including consistent and globally aligned security systems and operations. Conducts site risk assessments, security reviews at assigned sites and regions. Delivers regionally on Travel security , Event Security, Executive Protection, Investigations in close collaboration with Global programms. Supports the implementation of Security standards, policies, procedures and practices locally to ensure a consistent program across the corporation.

  3. Supports the Global Supply Chain Security program regionally, conducting or supporting assigned audits at Biogen’s partner sites (3PL, Wholesale, Distribution). 

  4. Support the region’s preparedness program to ensure business continuity of Biogen operations.  This includes emergency response, incident management/communications, product security, and business/operations recovery.      

  5. Maintains and utilizes a network of security experts, law enforcement and intelligence community contacts to assist in identifying new or creative approaches to issues, benchmarking, metrics, and key performance indicators.

  6. Establish and maintain a comprehensive security program consisting of alarm management, access control, SOP’s, and related procedures, and training to ensure cGMP compliance requirements are met and sustained in Solothurn


Qualifications



  • Bachelor Degree or comparable education

  • Requires 5+ years security management experience. Law enforcement, military, private security experience are an advantage

  • Demonstrated skills in leadership, a sound business acumen, excellent oral and written communication skills and security industry knowledge

  • Experience in Pharma or similar industry  an advantage

  • Experience in multinational roles / environments required

  • Required languages: English and at least one other language. Preferred: German, French, 

  • Professional board certification (CPP, PSP, CISSP) preferred
