Job Description


We are looking for a subject matter expert in forensic science qualitative comparative analysis applied to counterfeit drug detection, identification, and characterization to Lead the Forensic Chemistry Laboratory in Schachen, Switzerland. 


Reporting to the Global Security Director, Forensic Services Laboratory, the Supervisory Forensic Chemist will be accountable for the direct and subordinate expert level of professional forensic science analysis at the companies Forensic Services Laboratory for the Europe, Middle East and Africa regions. The successful incumbent will provide the necessary level of forensic capacity and capability to identify, characterize, and report on suspected counterfeit and other illicit the company’s products in a manner consistent with the Product Integrity mission and in compliance with associated scientific, forensic, and ISO/IEC17025 standards. 


Core elements of the role include:



  • Providing expert level of forensic analysis on the testing of suspected counterfeit, diverted, tampered, and other illicit company products


  • Evaluating evidence submitted to the Forensic Service Laboratory to provide the best professional scientific examinations


  • Testifying in court as a subject matter expert witness regarding laboratory operations, physical evidence, forensic results, scientific analysis, and case knowledge in a defensible posture


  • Comprehending the admissibility complexities of scientific evidence


  • Maintaining the Laboratory’s ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation status by ensuring all lab operations are performed according to the standards and within the scope of our accreditation


  • Participating in our Forensic Intelligence program in order to identify meaningful forensic linking factors to initiate new investigative avenues


  • Boosting the development of new analytical methods for small and large molecule counterfeit drug detection, including research and validation of new or existing techniques, procedures, methods, and instruments used in the laboratory


  • Coordinating and partnering with investigators and law enforcement agencies


  • Serving as a scientific and technical subject matter expert on forensic testing for the detection, identification, and characterization of illicit company products


  • Managing the operation of the Forensic Service Laboratory; ensuring the examination, analysis, and interpretation of physical evidence meets the appropriate standards in the scientific investigation of pharmaceutical crimes


  • Consulting with the laboratory Director to develop short- and long-term planning strategies based on forensic standards and best scientific practices


  • Managing operational expenditures to align with corporate and regional business activities and ensuring necessary forensic testing capacity and capability, while prioritizing services to identified high security risks for the Company



Education and Qualifications: ·



  • Bachelor’s degree in Forensic Science, Chemistry, or related scientific field; advanced degree (MSc, PhD) strongly preferred


  • Minimum of 7 solid years of prior relevant laboratory expertise; direct expertise in Forensic Sciences is preferred


  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical manufacturing and distribution operations (GxP,etc) and counterfeit drug detection and investigations is advantageous


  • Demonstrated expert comprehension of the standards and practices, applications, concepts, theories, and limitations of methods associated with forensic science and


  • Analytical chemistry in the application of counterfeit drug detection


  • Proven ability to provide subject matter expert witness testimony based on scientific analysis


  • Expert ability to plan, direct, organize, and coordinate projects; effective decision making or recommendations to resolve and mediate conflicts


  • Knowledge and expertise in ISO/IEC 17025 standards and the process of accreditation


  • Demonstrated ability to identify and analyse problems, identify and evaluate alternative solutions, make decisions or recommendations, resolve problems, and consult with appropriate staff and resources as needed, based on knowledge, expertise


  • Documented expertise interacting with senior management


  • Ability to advocate new ideas or positions to meet key goals and initiatives


  • Possess strong dedication to safety and compliance requirements and laboratory accreditation standards


  • Ability to work in highly combined and matrixed environment


  • Innovative, self-directed, and able to manage a high workload in a high performing environment


  • Fluency in English, both verbal and written; additional strong language skills in other languages is preferred
