Research Assistant Position in Pervasive Computing and Law (m/w/d)

Your tasks

Pervasive computing not only impacts our daily social interactions with technology but has also legal implications. In this position, the focus of this position rests on investigating the interaction between technology and law within an interdisciplinary team of computer science researchers and legal scholars. You would be investigating the legal theoretical framework in the context of pervasive computing, creating novel methods to enable users of technology to design their legal context, and creating prototypes to demonstrate and evaluate your research. 

Your profile



  • A university-level Master's degree in Computer Science or a related subject

  • A Certificate of Advanced Studies (or equivalent) in the legal domain, where a university-level Bachelor's or Master's degree in Law is a plus

  • Ability and motivation to investigate complex legal issues that arise from the use of technology

  • Confidence and independence in designing and implementing proof of concept systems

  • Experience with systems in the artificial intelligence, human-computer interaction, and robotics domains is a plus

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

  • An international mindset paired with a high ambition to excel in research, teaching, and academic service

  • A rising track record in peer-reviewed research in the respective topic area is a plus

  • Experience in supervising student projects and teaching university-level courses is a plus

  • Industry and/or practical legal experience is a plus
