JOB PURPOSE:


To develop and execute business strategies which enhance our relationships with our strategic mining accounts.  This position has direct impact on the customer base and on customer development and retention.


JOB DUTIES:


This position primarily supports the Strategic Accounts team with business development and strategy development and deployment. The incumbent will act as a consultant to various departments within Caterpillar regarding the direction and strategies regarding large mining customers.  Support the development and execution key account strategies and activities for specified accounts. Consult with dealers and districts on the subject of sales and service support of product to “Strategic account” customers. 


The incumbent will over time also be assigned 1-2 strategic mining accounts. Develop and maintain effective internal partner relationships and relationships with these customers so that sales objectives can be achieved. Establish high-level relationships with business decision makers and identify business needs and problems.  Develop and implement market strategies for key industries and customers as well as securing commitment of Caterpillar and Dealer resources to assure continued customer satisfaction.


Incumbent must demonstrate leadership skills to achieve objectives across the company and with customers.  Must communicate effectively across product, industry, dealer and/or customer audiences to ensure strategic and tactical alignment with these business partners.


Must have ability to work with people from many different backgrounds and cultures, internally and externally, with the appropriate influence and ability to resolve differences.  Good human relations skills are required to develop a collaborative/cooperative work relationship with others inside and outside the business unit.  Generally requires extensive travel to understand regional or worldwide business conditions. 


Basic Qualifications:



  • College degree with 10+ years of industry experience

  • 3+ years of account management experience, supervisory experience or a role in business strategy.

  • Having worked in Mining go-to-market organization

  • Broad business background, specific long-term industry knowledge and excellent communication skills

  • Must be able to deal with sensitive issues, mentor and coach others or persuade others on new methods of equipment application, new technology and distribution methods

  • At least one previous international assignment
