Scientist at the Gene Expression Core Facility (80-100%)

Your mission :

The School of Life Sciences of the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) invites applications for a position of a scientist at the Gene Expression Core Facility (GECF, gecf.epfl.ch). The GECF benefits from core funding to provide the local and external scientific community with a comprehensive support for the functional and quantitative analysis of genomes and transcriptomes.

Main duties and responsibilities include :

• To participate in the running of core facility services including next-generation libraries preparation and sequencing, single-cell genomics technologies, qPCR and classical molecular biology.


• To be in charge of full service workflows, from initial interaction with users to final data analysis and troubleshooting.


• To be involved in the preparation of result reports and in the administration of the services.


• To participate in the evaluation of new methodologies and instruments with the objective to further develop platform’s services.


• To take part in the automation of methodologies through robotic liquid handling instruments.


• To participate in teaching and training activities at the platform.

Your profile :

• University training in a field relevant to transcriptomics/genomics technologies, PhD degree is a plus.


• Experience in next-generation sequencing, single cells RNA-seq, spatial transcriptomics, bioinformatics or automated pipetting platforms will be considered a plus.


• Self-drive, reliability, excellent organizational skills, meticulousness and thoroughness are key.


• Ability to work in a dynamic environment and to meet deadlines.


• Interpersonal skills and a pronounced taste for working as a team player in a service-oriented context.


• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English, knowledge of French would be a plus.
