What you will do

Johnson Controls (JCI) seeks an experienced attorney as Legal Counsel, DACH (Germany, Austria and Switzerland), to be based in either of these countries. In this exciting position you will be part of the DACH Legal team and a key member of the countries’ Leadership Teams, acting as a strong and trusted business partner to your clients.

You will be an active member of the Continental European and the Global JCI Law and Policy Dept. and drive transformation both in the Legal Team and in collaboration with cross-functional teams.

How you will do it

• As a legal generalist, you will provide effective, proactive and practical legal support to the business colleagues on all levels of the organisation


• You will support in a variety of legal fields with a focus on construction related topics and effectively manage external counsel


• You will actively support strategic initiatives in the DACH Legal Team to drive engagement, continuous improvement of effectiveness and efficiency


• You will effectively influence and lead cross-functional resources to identify risks and create action plans to mitigate risks.


• You will drive continuous improvement and high levels of performance against key performance indicators of service.


• You will proactively and closely collaborate with your colleagues in the  European and global legal teams

What we look for
Required

• Admitted to practice law, preferably in Germany (alternatively in Austria or Switzerland)


• Extensive experience in an in-house position within an international corporation


• Legal generalist with solid understanding of the construction industry and its legal environment


• Ability to act as trusted and recognized legal business partner with a strong entrepreneurial acumen and business mindset


• Ability to work efficiently under pressure to deadlines as part of a team with multiple matters in parallel


• Excellent analytical and communication abilities


• Fluency in German and English language both written and spoken

Preferred

• Experience with and understanding of IP and public procurement law


• Good understanding of German / European product liability / safety law


• Experience with digital solutions including Legal Tech


• Experience in managing German labor & employment matters, including dealing with works councils


• Commercial background and contract & claims management skills and experience in dealing with customer claims, change orders etc.


• Fluency in French, Italian or any other European language would be a plus
