Job Purpose:


Work on relationships within the healthcare, chemical, food and beverage portfolio. This is an Investment Grade portfolio including very large multi-product relationships (CMO, TTS, Markets, GSG).


Assist Team head in business origination across Citi’s product set, with particular focus on episodic and strategic financing transactions, while actively supporting the expansion of the existing operating relationships across the GSG network. Also support the team in client planning, franchise reviews, AML compliance and transaction lifecycle management.




Job Background/context:


The Banking Capital Markets and Advisory business provides financial advisory services on a wide range of strategic transactions (including acquisitions, divestitures, mergers and restructuring) and capital-raising and debt financing projects, for corporate clients, financial institutions and governments worldwide. Our bankers work closely with our other business units to ensure client access to the full range of products and expertise within the organisation.


The position sits within the Corporate Banking team. The role involves client contact both face-to-face and by phone.




Key Responsibilities:


Member of deal team for the origination and execution of episodic and Corporate Finance transactions involving the client portfolio.

- Perform  credit and capital structure analysis including financial modelling, both for internal and client advisory purposes

- Sourcing and creating pitch materials to support the marketing effort across the full suite of banking solutions, including financing, advisory, markets and transaction services

- Coordinate the contribution of different partners within the firm (Investment Banking, CMO, risk and local teams)

- Lead in managing the transaction execution life cycle, including credit and capital approval processes, documentation review, compliance clearances and internal marketing


Assist in managing the Corporate Banking relationships

- Develop relationship with the clients’ head office teams as well as with key subsidiaries.

- Engage with clients to deliver Citi’s full product set (flow and episodic) across the globe.

- Develop and maintain knowledge of the core product set to identify and drive revenue opportunities.

- Maintain regular and frequent dialogue with product partners to deliver against the client agenda.

- Interact with Citi’s network around the globe to ensure activities and origination work streams are co-ordinated across the franchise.

- Client Management including assisting in developing appropriate credit strategies and attending client meetings as appropriate in managing day to day relations.

- (Internal business development activities including client planning and business reviews). 


Support Banking Relationship Team and ICG product partners

- Oversee credit analysis activities for a specified client set, both on a transactional and periodic basis (e.g. annual credit reviews)

- Risk assessment and continuous credit monitoring of client portfolio


The associate will develop (i) in-depth understanding of the dynamics of the business, (ii) an understanding of clients’ priorities with the aim of identifying appropriate marketing opportunities and (iii) strong relationships internally with key product, risk and regional partners.

Qualifications


Knowledge/Experience:



  • Prior experience in Corporate and Investment Banking.

  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of a broad spectrum of products and how they meet client needs.

  • Experience with various clients, capital markets products, derivatives, credit, cash management, trade, finance and securities.

  • Credit trained, used to taking a lead role in determining and monitoring the creditworthiness of counterparties.

  • Experienced at client planning and coordinating input from multiple product areas.

  • Strong knowledge of Accounting and Corporate Finance. Advanced Financial Modelling experience.




Skills:



  • Analytical - assimilating new information quickly and relating it to the needs of the client base.

  • Organizational – Managing demands from several sources and working to deadlines.

  • Proactivity, identifying situations that could result in new business and developing recommendations tailored to the client. Evidence of commercial instinct.

  • Quantitative and Financial Modelling skills.




Qualifications:



  • Banking background gained from a reputable firm where you will have gained first class training and development as a banker.

  • Educated to degree level with a minimum grade of 2:1 (or equivalent experience).

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.  Able to create and sustain good personal contacts within the client group.

  • Exercise judgement in balancing client requirements and Citi’s priorities. 

  • Self-starter - prepared to take the initiative to follow issues through and involve relevant stakeholders where necessary.

  • Networking - maintaining close contact with product, coverage and risk specialists within Citi.

  • Team Player - being able to work in partnership with other individuals on day-to-day and long term projects.

  • Credit analytics and Financial Modeling experience.

  • Excellent computer skills especially Excel.

  • Leadership in team oriented environment, including development of junior team members.
