Chief Technology Officer (CTO) / Chief Information


Officer (CIO) (80-100%)


Location: Zurich, Switzerland
Responsibilities:



  • Lead, develop and motivate Ava’s largest team, consisting of Software, Data Science, Hardware &
    Firmware and Technical Product Ownership

  • Define and execute Ava’s strategic Product Roadmap for Data Science, Software and Hardware &
    Firmware within budget, schedule and design/quality guidelines

  • Develop and own implementation of Ava’s short and midterm Enterprise Technology strategy

  • Oversee and own Enterprise Architecture and Enterprise Security across Ava

  • Own and optimize product development processes, applying appropriate Methodologies and
    Organizational concepts (Business Agility, Lean Development etc.)

  • Fully accountable for Technical Workstream Execution for Current and New Products in
    partnership with Product Management

  • Owning Steady State and Continuous Improvement of IT processes and Technologies within Ava,
    staying on top of current and future trends in hardware, data science and software technologies
    and assessing suitability for current and future environment

  • Ensure Compliance with International Standards and Regulations and represent Hardware and
    Software Engineering in interactions with Notified Bodies and other Health Authorities. This
    includes requirements related to the medical device industry as well as other/general industry
    requirements (cybersecurity, HiPAA, GDPR, etc.)

  • Closely collaborate with Ava’s Data Protection Officer

  • Represent and advocate for the technical workstreams in Ava’s Executive Management as well as
    the Ava Board and other stakeholders

  • Actively engage and partner with Internal and External Stakeholders to ensure delivery of Ava’s
    technology goals (investors, executives, peers, 3rd party partners, etc.)


About you:



  • Higher engineering degree in computer science, software or electronic engineering, or similar

  • Masters of Business Administration or Business Engineering is a plus

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in data science, engineering and product development

  • 5+ years of experience in senior project-driven leadership roles, managing and motivating a
    globally distributed team and a significant budget

  • Technology start-up and/or SME experience is a big plus

  • Product development experience in medical device or similarly regulated industry

  • Strong grasp of quality, medical device, and software/hardware development regulations and
    standards (i.e. IEC 62304, IEC 60601-1)

  • Working knowledge of IT/Business infrastructure and cybersecurity

  • Demonstrated experience in developing strategy and business plans

  • Experience working in and shaping agile processes and lean management culture

  • Outstanding organizational and leadership capabilities with a track record aligning product and
    technology teams

  • Familiarity with executive leadership and management best practices and strong cross-functional
    partnership skills

  • Demonstrated ability to navigate ambiguity, drive change and operate effectively in a fast-paced,
    rapid growth, results-oriented environment

  • A highly motivated, entrepreneurial and pragmatic personality who enjoys working in a dynamic
    organization with global ambitions

  • Strong strategic planning skills combined with exceptional hands-on execution

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to drive complex technical decisions in an area with a
    lot of regulatory uncertainties (wearable devices, apps, artificial intelligence, machine learning)

  • Excellent interpersonal and public speaking skills

  • Proven ability to influence by example

  • Excellent ability to lead under pressure

  • Passion for our vision: Ava aims to advance women’s health by bringing together artificial

  • Fluent in English; German is a plus, additional languages welcome

  • EU or Swiss citizen, or valid Swiss work permit
