Would you like to join our Protein Sciences team as a Principal Scientist conducting cutting-edge research to study multi-protein complexes in the context of disease and drug discovery?
We are seeking a passionate, curious and collaborative protein scientist with demonstrated experience in expression, purification and characterization of multi-protein complexes. In a cross functional team of enthusiastic drug hunters, you will carry out the challenging task of studying disease-relevant protein targets and their interaction networks. You will discover molecules that modulate the function of these targets and thus help produce therapeutic breakthroughs for patients.
You are an empathic listener and persuasive speaker, and you thrive in a matrix environment. In doing so, you will have opportunities to develop and grow your professional network across NIBR and to establish external partnerships or academic collaborations to advance internal programs.

Your responsibilities include, but not limited to:
• Key contributor of projects/workstreams within scientific/technical/early development initiatives. Influences through matrix and project networks. Identifies scientific/technical trends within own discipline that impact projects.
• Executes experiments and interprets complex data to draw logical and innovative conclusions, connecting and enabling work of relevant collaborators within functional community.
• Actively mentors, trains, and supports career development for junior collaborators, especially in own area of deep expertise. Develops and recommends objectives for lab unit, together with broader team.
• Influences a constructive culture within functional community.
• Empowered to carry out novel research and/or technical activities within team, and/or matrix community surrounding field of expertise, which may involve devising new techniques to advance drug discovery, technology or early development projects.

• PhD with background in biochemistry, biophysics or molecular systems biology
• 3-4 years of relevant experience, fluent English
• Expert knowledge of multi-protein complexes: Design of expression vectors (incl. lentiviral-based systems), cell cultivation (mammalian, BV, E. coli), expression of protein complexes in mammalian cells and BV, purification of multi-protein complexes, either endogenous or from recombinant over-expression, for biophysical binding assays and structural biology (crystallography or cryoEM)
• Hands on experience of proximity labeling or affinity purification and MS: Sample preparation for LC-MS/MS experiments, LC-MS/MS measurements and analysis
• Good understanding of research data management workflows (data capture, processing, analysis and reporting)
Desirable requirements:
• Familiarity in visualizing and interpreting structural data to formulate hypotheses on structure-function relationships
• Strong wish to work as an experimental scientist performing at the bench (execute experiments and interpret complex data to draw logical and innovative conclusions)
