EHS Manager

Job Summary

For our PlantinBodio (Ticino-Switzerland) we are looking for a:


EHS Manager


Key Tasks and Responsibilities:



  • Continuously work on an EHS culture inside the plant based on the global EHS roadmap and strategy;


  • Partner with the management team, local workers, unions and Plant Manager to reach an accident free workplace at all levels throughout the plant;


  • Implement and roll out a system to continuously develop and sustain a Safety Culture;


  • Support HR and Plant Manager improving EHS KPIs, lead and give guidelines to plant management;


  • Propose and communicate EHS policies, ensuring that the plant is complying with local regulations;


  • Develop and emphasize behaviors, by improving safety empowerment and commitment and share safety leadership, creating additional value within the team. 


  • Develop training (with HR support) to help create a safety mindset within the entire organization;


  • Drive and formalize Change Management into the organization;


  • Support and / or lead investigation and create / recommend actions for EHS incidents;


  • Support and / or lead regulatory inspections / audits and create / recommend action plans after audits; ensure completion through regular follow-up;


  • Ensure that we learn from EHS accidents / incidents;


  • Ensure that best practices are shared inside the organization between sites and also inside transversal supports as well within other regions;


  • Manage internal and external relationships on behalf of the government requirements and internal policy compliance;


  • Effectively manage multi-projects and tasks by using timelines, budgets and tracking systems of action plan/milestones to assure self-delivery;


  • Supports and implement the Imerys Safety System (Protocols, TAKE 5, S7…);


  • Together with the local I³ Champion, implement and drive the Imerys Operational Excellence program called I³ (Imerys Industrial Improvement) within his/her area;


  • Prepare and advice the top management corrective actions aiming at improving safety on engineering and technical interventions, equipment, organizational campaigns, specific instructions, courses and training, internal regulations, prohibitions, calls, signs, detectors, etc;


  • Instruct the company about the EHS regulation of tasks, competencies and responsibilities of employees;


  • Cooperate with other EHS managers (plant, environment, products, data, etc.) in order to improve the general organizational safety objectives; 


  • Be informed about any organizational changes (new equipment and machines, new safety deployments, new protections, new products, new jobs, new working schedules, etc.);


  • Process Safety Management Responsibilities: The EHS manager will be the reference for the Process related risk management, and coordinate the site plans with the divisional process safety lead;


  • Safety services responsibilities: Plan and elaborate the organizational safety strategy for the Plant under the direction of the Plant Manager, aligning it with the Division/Corporate plans and verifying and updating it regularly; 


  • Training & communication tasks: Make available, develop and update all the supportive training materials about safety (legislation, directives, internal requirements, written instructions, plans, etc.) and assure appropriate delivery methods; 


  • Emergency responsibilities: Arrange the organizational emergency interventions and communications in case of an emergency, including emergency equipment needs and inspections, training, emergency drills, interventions, risk assessment, etc.;


  • Audit revisions tasks: Perform all the related internal inspections and statistics for trend analysis and development of action plans. 


  • Quality & Safety Management (QSM) duties: Carry out all the duties in relation to the QMS system related to documentation and the ISO standards. 



 


Requirements:



  • Bachelor Degree (BA), Bachelor of Science (BS) in Engineering, chemistry, mining, environment, other related field, or equivalent experience. 


  • Master in EHS related field preferred.


  • 5-10 years progressive experience in technical or EHS related position in a comparable domain, consultant or governmental experience is a plus


  • Languages: Fluent in Italian and English, both written and spoken. Knowledge of French and German are a plus


  • Ability to contribute to design and conduct EHS prevention training


  • Knowledge of EHS auditing methodology


  • Knowledge of crisis management procedures


  • Knowledge of process management risks procedures and related norms (ATEX,..). 


  • Analytical competencies (principles & methods) for  professional risks evaluation and risks identification


  • Experience with health, dust and noise


  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills 


  • Project management skills
