OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME
The Division of UHC/Communicable and Noncommunicable Diseases aims to reduce the burden of communicable and noncommunicable diseases through the synergistic work of its six departments (HIV/Hepatitis/STIs, Tuberculosis, Malaria, Neglected Tropical Diseases, Noncommunicable Diseases, and Mental Health and Substance Use).
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
Under the overall guidance of the Assistant Director General (ADG), the incumbent will
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Essential: Advanced level university degree in medicine or in public health.
Desirable: Postgraduate degree in a field related to UCN work.
Experience
Essential: A minimum of 10 years of professional experience with increasing levels of seniority on global development and/or policy management of public health, including several years of experience at the international level, ideally with or in an International Organization. At least 8 years of experience in coordinating, strategizing, and researching most complex health policies and strategies and developing reports, speeches, briefings, presentations and communications for prominent level audiences. At least 5 years of experience working with inter-agency initiatives and multi-disciplinary groups, national, international, and non-governmental organizations, preferably working in WHO or the UN system or relevant international health/development bodies. Demonstrated experience working with developing countries.
Desirable: Experience in public health programmes in developing countries.

REMUNERATION
WHO salaries for staff in the Professional category are calculated in US dollars. The remuneration for the above position comprises an annual base salary starting at USD 89,837 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable), a variable post adjustment, which reflects the cost of living in a particular duty station, and currently amounts to USD 6259 per month for the duty station indicated above. Other benefits include 30 days of annual leave, allowances for dependent family members, home leave, and an education grant for dependent children.
