About The Role
In this position you will report into the Head of International Business and you will head up the International Business Excellence function, build and maintain Swiss Re's technical international business proposition to internal and external stakeholders and lead the global team responsible for the delivery of international business excellence worldwide. In addition you manage a team that provides guidance, training and directives on all international business matters and acts as an advisor to Underwriters on complex international programs. Your team monitors operational performance on a portfolio basis and where necessary on individual deals, also provides supports for business, product and proposition development activities.
In short, you will:
• Lead and develop the strategy for the International Business Excellence team, including the regional support hubs and Compliance teams
• Develop and own UW standards and guidelines for international business
• Direct producing UW in structuring programs on complex deals to ensure compliance with local regulations, laws and market practices
• Provide advice on all cross border business (non-program international business)
• Perform International Program structuring reviews
• Monitor and report on operational program performance (end to end) and address issues to ensure client delivery on an immediate and longer term basis
• Liaise with International Network Management to address local office under performance and/or breaches to guidelines
• Liaise with International Financial Management to understand cash position across program portfolio
• Identify trends across international Business portfolio incl. additional Lines of Business to enhance product and proposition
• Support UW with marketing to brokers and clients
• Support tax training and assists UW in ensuring tax compliance
About The Team
We are a core segment of the International Business team and serve as a central function and gatekeeper. We are responsible for the provision of knowledge, expertise and training of all technical cross-border insurance, reinsurance and IPT topics relating to International Business written by Swiss Re CorSo. We also ensure quality, consistency and excellence in the provision of International Programs written by Swiss Re CorSo. We are responsible for the implementation of a globally consistent governance framework and approach with respect to International Business written by Swiss Re CorSo and ensure a globally consistent international business proposition.
About You
• Minimum of a university degree or equivalent
• At least 10 years of experience working within international insurance business.
• Experience of working with international programs and structuring international business deals as well as complex cross-border insurance solution crafting.
• Validated leadership skills (able to motivate, coach and develop team members across locations)
• Experience in an enabling, governance or technical underwriting function.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
• Ability to handle multiple priorities, work independently, think laterally and deliver high-quality products under pressure
• Deep understanding of IT related standard methodologies and processes
• Fluent in English, other languages are an asset
• Enjoy working in a global environment
• Demonstrate agility and ability to navigate ambiguity to deliver on core expectations through change.
• Eligible to work in Switzerland
