Director of External Communications & Content Marketing

Scandit is seeking a seasoned professional to lead all of its external communications strategy and execution. You will be responsible for this growing company’s public and analyst relations, its corporate messaging, as well as other marketing communications activities. You will be responsible for telling the company story that increases brand awareness through traditional, social and other digital channels.  You will create programs that get the attention of industry pundits, and drive demand among our customers and partners. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker and a resourceful doer, capable of being a business partner to the executive leadership team. This role has direct management responsibilities over a team of communicators, content producers, PR/AR agencies and creative resources.

What you will do



  • Lead and manage a remote team responsible for telling the company story.

  • Own the Scandit corporate narrative, positioning and messaging

  • Develop strategic communications plan and oversee its execution across all relevant channels.

  • Work cross-functionally to create consistency in Scandit narrative across multiple communication vehicles, maintain unique tone of voice and clear value proposition.

  • Provide strategic direction to a group of regional PR/AR agencies, including measurement and reporting.

  • Oversee creation of company’s marketing collateral, including thought leadership, demand generation and event materials and collateral.

  • Manage customer-related content including customer references and testimonials, case studies and customer win announcements.

  • Own website content including collaboration across Marketing, Product and IT departments to ensure that the Scandit website attracts visitors and serves as a powerful tool for awareness and lead generation.

  • Own public-facing communication channels, including social media channels, blogging and guest contributions directed toward OEM partners, such as Samsung and Kyocera, among others.

  • Review and edit executive presentations, byline articles, media interviews and other public speaking engagement submissions and materials.


Who you are



  • Bachelor or Master level degree in journalism, marketing, public relations, communications or English.

  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in public relations, corporate communications, content marketing, or related fields - preferably in a fast growth SaaS or other IT business.

  • A mix of agency and corporate experience is preferred.

  • Proven hands-on executive-level presence and communication experience required.

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; native English speaker preferred. Knowledge of German is a plus.

  • Skilled storyteller capable of creating, editing, and promoting written and visual content.

  • Experience working directly with journalists, bloggers and analysts, as well as managing PR and AR agencies.

  • Excellent eye for design and typography, with the ability to deliver constructive feedback on projects to the creative team.

  • Able to manage multiple priorities at once.

  • Available to work with teams and resources in multiple time zones.

  • Passion and commitment to work in a fast-paced environment with a strong culture of innovation, collaboration and quality of execution.

  • You can work from home or Southbank WeWork with the flexibility to work 1/3rd of your time in HQ Zurich.

  • Available to travel to Boston USA quarterly
